Help! My website has been hacked!

Help! I got hacked!

Sadly hacked accounts is nothing new to us, in fact it happens every day. There's several ways your website can get hacked, however the biggest reason accounts get hacked is due to running old versions of scripts such as Wordpress.

When you run scripts/applications for your website, you have to constantly keep them up to date. Failure to keep them up to date will result in your account being hacked.

What did they do to my account?

In most cases, when someone hacks into an account, they use it for illegal purposes such as a phishing website. Phishing websites are a very serious problem and we end up suspending your account if we find out your domain is hosting one. Not only does it hurt you, it also hurts us by giving our company and IP a bad reputation.

How do I fix it?

There is no easy fix for recovering from a hacked website. If you delete the phishing pages or code they entered into your website, we can promise you your website will be hacked again within 24 hours. When people hack websites, they add little pieces of code to all of your files and can use that to gain access to your website again, even after you deleted the phishing website.

The only way to recover from a hacked website is to start over, ask us to setup a new account for you and re-build your website from a old backup you may have. This is a very time consuming and frustrating process, so we always encourage you to make sure ALL scripts and plugins are up-to-date, ALWAYS.
